Fixed Angle Specular Reflectance Accessory
Specac’s Fixed Angle Specular Reflectance Accessory is an easy-to-use specular reflectance accessory for the infrared spectroscopic analysis of solid samples. The accessory provides high quality spectroscopic data for the identification of films and coatings, the measurement of the film thickness by fringe pattern analysis, and surface studies of metals.
Samples are placed face down on the sample stage at the top of the accessory for analysis, and two aluminium-coated mirrors direct optical radiation to the sample surface at a fixed angle of 30° incidence. A reference mirror is provided for background scans and accessory alignment purposes, along with sample mask apertures of 5 mm and 10 mm diameter for the analysis of smaller samples or to isolate specific areas of interest on larger samples.
Monolayer/Grazing Angle Specular Reflectance Accessory
The Monolayer/Grazing Angle Specular Reflectance Accessory is a dual-purpose device for enabling both in-situ FTIR monolayer investigations of films at an air/liquid interface, and grazing incidence angle measurements of thin film coatings on solid reflective surfaces. The accessory can easily be switched from one measurement form to the other by simple changeover of the appropriate sample holder.
On most spectrometer systems, grazing angles from 8º to 85º are possible in the absence of stray light. Appropriate sample containers are provided for both monolayer and grazing angle measurements, and a rotatable polarizer mount is provided as standard for use with Specac’s series FTIR Infrared Polarizers.
This accessory is baseplate mounted within the optical spectrometer sample compartment. An appropriate baseplate or fixings are supplied when ordering the system.
